This appears to have started after the recent Windows update. It was working perfectly, but it quit working and I uninstalled everything and then have tried reinstalling the drivers but the printer and computer will not communicate.
My computer is connected to the same router by an ethernet cable. I have my printer (HP Envy 5540) connected to my router / network.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in. For example, the software might be called “Full Solution Software”. The name of the “full driver” might vary by printer model. If you use the Easy Start method, select the Full Feature Software ( full driver) when the option to select the software is presented. Right-Click on the installation package and “ Run as Administrator”. Navigate to the folder in which you saved the installation file (likely Downloads). Download-and-Save the Full Feature Software or HP Easy Start Printer Setupfor your Operating System version. Open Category Software and Drivers in your printer HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer series. 
If you use Easy Start, indicate (when asked) that you want to install the "Full Driver" (wording may vary). The CD is likely out of date by now.ĭownload-save either the Full Feature Software package or the Easy Start installation package.
